• Puerto Vallarta fishing charter report for August

Puerto Vallarta fishing charter report for August.   The latest fishing report we have been getting some huge Marlin offshore around the Corbetena and just north of this area. These offshore trips of 10 hours give us time to check many good fishing G.P.S. points along the way out and on the way back.

    Quadruple hook up

When we are fishing for 8 hours up to 10-hours there are many different options to find pelagic fish for our clients on these incredible fishing trips. There are times when we check an area in the morning and the tides are not right does not mean the fishing there was bad, but the fish just did not want to bite on that particular tides.  The dorado fishing inside the bay has been great.  This is good for folks that don’t want to spend a full day fishing.  If you want to take one of our boats out but just want a short trip for family or friends this is the trip for you. These fishing trips are a fun day for 4 to 6 hrs. The offshore fishing is extremely hot with blue marlin and black marlin with some of the bigger Dorado and sailfish.  The inshore fishing 4 to 6 hours we’re catching some dorados, yellowtail, and Snappers up around north shore. I’ve seen a lot of fish showing up on the Southside in fantastic numbers. The best Method for catching these huge roosterfish is a troll of about 2 knots to 3 knots depending on the seas with some live goggle-eye or casting where the fish are schooling down by the south side of the bay as well. Los Arcos is just one of the many places we did well a couple of days ago.  These short fishing trips Can be done here in Puerto Vallarta fishing in 6 hours easily.

  • Puerto Vallarta fishing report august

Puerto Vallarta fishing report August is as hot as it gets.  The fishing is up over the bay and incredible offshore. This last month in Puerto Vallarta Mexico saw some of the most fantastic fishing days of the summer. The August fishing report in Puerto Vallarta and the bay area like Nuevo Vallarta, Punya Mita and Sayulita will hold much of the same fishing action. The deep sea fishing had super days and some so-so days fishing but still landed much great fish. The best of the best top-notch fishing crews came to in fish the Corbetena and close by. There were several big tuna and many marlin feeding/ schooling there along with

fishing tournament in puereto vallarta El Banco. The wat to fish Puerto Vallarta fishing technique was the slow troll with huge bonitas. These large fishing baits which are 5 to 10 lbs. bait and catch more large tuna and marlin than any other way of fishing for last 32  years we have fished here in Puerto Vallarta fishing with our boats which is known as the friendliest city in the world. So many other fish caught by trolling with mullet fast and lures/jigging  around the Corbetena and El Banco just to mention a few. If you are going to Puerto Vallarta want to catch big fish August is one of the very best months to catch tuna, marlin, and sailfish.  Check with me before coming down to Mexico so we can f the figure out the tides for the daate you will be here and our sercect weapon Terrafin satellite pictures we get every  daily. This is a  service that I pay for to let our crews know where the fish are biting, water temp. and where blue water is located.

The July bay fishing was off the charts this last month.  August is going to be better as more bait which happens to love is showing up in the beautiful Puerto Vallarta bay and deep sea fishing  I mentioned earlier in this Puerto Vallarta fishing report for August.           puerto vallarta tuna fishing

Some days we ran short of bait when hooking up over thirty big fish for the day. The yellowtail, roosterfish, mahi mahi and many other incredible  fish are staying in  the bay with water temperatures is still above 80 deg. and will be most of the summer.  The sardines are thick along with many other fish like mullet.   The  fish are biting all summer long.  When you have great temperatures, baitfish and super blue water hold on to your fishing rod. I’m sure fish will be biting for the month of August in Puerto Vallarta fishing charters.  Come down and enjoy these fantistis fishing conditions here in beautiful Mexico on one of our many  sports fishers or one of our big boats for the comfort and  we offer on all thrill of our deep sea fishing charters here in Puerto Vallarta.

Look forward to seeing everyone out there on the water and until nest report

  • Puerto Vallarta fishing Charters June

Puerto Vallarta fishing Charters June is here and the fishing could not be better.  The deep sea fishing is continuing to increase in fish numbers. The marlin, sailfish, dorados and tuna are still following the bait into the beautiful Puerto Vallarta bay and the offshore areas we enjoying fishing here in Mexico.   The light evening rains will be starting around the middle of the month and this means the bay fishing and the offshore fishing will be fantastic.  The water temp is still over 80 degrees and will be all summer long.  What does this mean to the average fisherman coming to Puerto vallarta or family ?  It means you will have a incredible chance to catch that throphy fish or those tuna and mahi- mahi you are looking to cook at one of the best restaurants in Puerto Vallarta or take home with on the plane back to the United States or Canada.

    fishing in puerto vallarta

You can expect some great bay fishing here in Puerto Vallarta.  After the rains start the mahi -mahi , tuna, bonitas and even some sailfish will be coming into the bay.  The bait are already here and we are just waiting for the pelagic fish to show up.  The rains are coming and for sure the bait balls.  With all the hot action happening the bay fish will be rocking and catching several good fish every trip.

The offshore fishing has been strong and just as the bay fishing will improve with the coming of the rains and the bait movement.  One of the major differences in bay fishing and the offshore fishing is the travel time to and from where we fish offshore such as the El Morro, The Corbetena and El Banco just to mention a  few.  These are the go to places when fishing for the big fish here in Puerto Vallarta fishing charters.  The blue marlin, black marlin , huge tuna, mahi -mahi and sailfish roam these areas as they will be thick with bait.  Some days the bait is so abundant it goes on and on for miles.  Like a mile buffet only for fish.  This is an unbelievable  sight to see and defiantly means superb fishing for that day.

We will be using several techniques when fishing the offshore water here in Mexico.  Early morning is great for high speed lure and skipping baits.  On some of our bigger boats we can run 10 lines along with a couple of teasers.  If this does raise the fish they are  just not biting in the morning.

    puerto vallarta fishing report

Another technique is the slow troll with live baits ranging from a couple of pounds to ten or more pounds.  These large bonitas are used for big tunas and the larger marlin.  Think about a ten pound snack.  Will have to be some kind of big fish to tackle on of these large baits.

At other time is the day we like to run some of the baits on the down rigger up to 100 feet down.  These pelagic fish do not always hit on top of the surface.  One of my personal favorites is running the fast bait on the surface while running the down rigger so top water and below the water can be coved at the same time.  As you can see June fishing  in Puerto Vallarta is just getting started but already in full swing.  Come down while the beer is cold and the fishing hot.

Look forward to seeing you out there

  • Puerto Vallarta fishing report may marlin

Puerto Vallarta fishing report may marlin. The water is continuing to heat up along with the marlin fishing. This incredible month of may fishing in Puerto Vallarta has seen some marlin, tuna, mahi mahi and yellowtail. This trend should hold for the next couple of months. June is right around the corner. The June fishing is always good as around the middle of the month the light rains start in the evenings. This brings all kind of pelagic fish into the bay following the bait food chain.

puerto vallarta deep sea fishingThe sardines and big Bonita are already here and that is one of the best indicators fishermen have to gauge the up coming fishing season. In one of the last fishing reports for Puerto Vallarta fishing I mentioned how the bait movement influenced where and how the big sailfish, tuna and marlin feed. If the bait is there

mahi mahi in puerto vallarta fishingwe all have a good chance a that trophy fish or good eating fish we are looking to catch on our fishing charter. The rains we have in the evenings make the water clearer and most of the days we can find a water line where the clear and off color water meet. This means the bait will be there and so will the fish. The different water temp. and the big change in the water color will hold good size fish especially during the large tide changes we have this time of the year.
One of the best methods to fish the water lines is the slow troll bait all along the line.  The big fish will be swimming up and down this area and with live bait placed in just the right spots it’s a can’t miss fishing method. There will be sailfish, marlin , tuna, and huge mahi mahi mixed in the water line that can run for miles and miles depending on the water flow from the 6 major rivers that flow into the Puerto Vallarta bay. These water lines can go out even farther into the pacific ocean where the large fish pray. The bay fishing in May though June is unbelievable but the offshore fishing is the way to go if you are looking for the huge trophy fish like big cow tuna, huge marlin and sailfish. This next month in June we have an international tournament is San Blas which is close to Puerto Vallarta ad brings in many fishermen from all over the world.
The offshore fishing is going to be outstanding this June as the water heats up so does the big game fishing. • Puerto Vallarta fishing report for tournaments

Puerto Vallarta fishing report this week has some new news coming up about what we have been catching. And some even more exciting news about some of the up coming fishing tournaments here in Puerto Vallarta and the surrounding areas. The really big question we get all the time is what do we do differently in a fishing tournament versus a regular fishig day of 8 hrs.  I’ve heard this before and after the tournaments.  The main factor is we fish for marlin, sailfish, tuna and dorados also know as mahi mahi but really big ones as with most  fishing tournaments the biggest fish wins or the fishing boat that catches the most fish.

The baits are a bigger and so are the lures.   we made sure there is new line on all the reels and plenty of baits with all kind of lures known to man.   Of course the hours we fish are set by the fishing committees and can range from 8 hours the first day to 16 hours the next day.  Most of the incredible  tournaments are three days in length.  There is plenty of time to catch the big fish of your dreams and them some.  We have a exciting tournament scheduled  in June 13 to June 17 , 2018 which will be held in San Blas, Nayarit.  San Blas is an old fort 50 nautical  miles north of beautiful Puerto Vallarta Mexico with is fanstic fishing grounds.  We love this tournament as the fishing grounds are very close and the run is very short. ( less than 1 hour in most cases)  The sailfish are thick this time of the year as well as big marlin.  The mahi mahi will be in full force this year as all the fishing conditions are looking great and could not be any better.

This week the bay fishing in Puerto Vallarta has been offering the very elusive California Bonita which is a spectular eating fish.  The Spanish mackerel are still hanging around the bay as well.  The snapper action was on and off but still here.  The famous Mexican torros also know as jack Carville are bountiful all over the bay and some of the offshore fishing spots.  Speaking of offshore fishing in Puerto Vallarta the fishing was a little off as we had some light color water move in and the marlin/sailfish did not like it one bit.  Since that time the water conditions have improved and so has the marlin/sailfish fishng conditions.  I’m happy to report there are more sardines and big baits moving into the offshore areas along with the Puerto Vallarta bay fishing areas.  This means the fishing will be hot and lot of fish caught over the next few weeks.  This coming week should see some great fishing coupled with some great weather.

So what ya waiting for come on down and enjoy the fantastic fishing and incredible weather

Look forward to seeing yall out there in Puerto Vallarta Mexico for fun fishing and sun

  • Puerto Vallarta Fishing Spring break

Puerto Vallarta fishing spring fishing has started off with a blast.  The fish are hanging around and I mean big fish like marlin.  The stripped marlin having been feeding all over the offshore fishing spots just to the north of us.  Some days we have had 10 to 15 hook ups. This is counting the sailfish, marlin, and dorados that the fleet has been catching.  The best trip are 8 to 10 hrs outside of the bay.  The best method has been pitch baits and skipping baits.  Last week we had 4 marlin on at the same time.  What a show and fun for everyone onboard.  Sure wish I would have had the gopro turned on for that one.

The bay fishing is still strong like the offshore fishing in Puerto Vallarta.  The best trips have been 6 hrs catching Spanish mackerel and Bonita for cooking or making cerchive.  The yellowtail have been so thick I lose count on how many hook ups we have having each bay.  Be sure and take plenty of live bait as you can hook these big fish four at a time as well.  They range from 5 to 30 lbs. and are one of the toughest fish out there for fun fishing action.  Pound for pound the best fish to catch.  We caught 15 of the fighters yesterday but released all of them.  You may want to take some back to hotel but if not it’s best to release these great fish.

The Puerto Vallarta  whale watching is still off the charts.  There must be still 300 humpback whales here in Puerto Vallarta Mexico with their new calves.  These babies are 10 feet long and just love to play all day long but then who wouldn’t ???  The whales are here for several months from November to past April every year and put on quite a show for us out on whale watching and also all of our Puerto Vallarta fishing charters.

The weather is perfect the fish are biting and the people here are some of  the most friendly in the world.  Come to Puerto Vallarta fishing charters and make some memories and new friends along the way

  • Puerto Vallarta fishing February

Puerto Vallarta fishing February has started off with marlin, sailfish and some mahi mahi action.  The water has cooled down a bit but is still sitting around 75 to 80 deg. In most places inshore and offshore.   The offshore bite has been great around 5 to 7 miles offshore.  The best spots have been where we are finding the right thermoclines along with the blue water the pelagic game fish such as marlin , sailfish and mahi mahi enjoy feeding in.  You may ask how do I find these spots to fish in or make sure at least your charter Captain in Puerto Vallarta will know this information.  There are several ways to obtain this information.  We gather information from all of our boats daily ,our competitors and use one of the online services that we pay a yearly fee to receive this info.  We gather the  chlorophyll, altimetry, currents and surface tempeture.  With this info along with direct contact with all our charter Captains here in Puerto Vallarta we have a good idea where we can catch that next trophy for our clients.  It’s no wonder we bring in more trophy fish than the other charter boats each year.  If you are looking for a big marlin, sailfish or mahi mahi our company Puerto Vallarta fishing charters can’t be beat for the price and service we offer.  Some of the best baits right now are the live goggle eye on the slow troll.  The mullet sewn up with a hot lure on top is also producing several fish.  The black bart lures are tearing the water up the last couple of weeks along with Joe Yee, marlin magic and Pakula lumo.  These are year in and year out the best offshore lures for fishing the Mexican waters here in Puerto Vallarta.

The inshore or bay fishing is maintaining a strong bite up by Punta Mita and Nuevo Vallarta fishing.  The best bet has been fishing the incoming tides or out going tides for some Spanish mackerel, bonitas, yellowtail, barracuda and some other game fish.  Another good producing fishing spot has been down my mismaloya beach.  The water has been just right catch a few snapper on the slow troll with live goggle eye the sizes have ranging from a few lbs. to 10 lbs.  Great eating fish and fantastic to catch.  Punta negra has also supplying some nice Spanish mackerel up to 5 lbs.  These are the very best for ceviche and we try and make this each day for our clients.  The recipe for our famous Puerto Vallarta ceviche is on the website as we have had so many requests.

So besides having superb fishing offshore and inshore in several of our favorite fishing spots the marina life in the bay is the best it’s been in 20 years.

Along with catching all kind of fish

Everyone who comes to Puerto Vallarta in February will have the chance to see the humpback whales,  spotted bottle nose dolphin, sea turtles and huge manta rays.  The show the whales put on each day is a special bonus each day for fishermen and fisherwoman coming and going on all trips out of Puerto Vallarta Mexico.  This is the mating season for the whales and manta rays so be ready with you camera for some incredible breaches seen daily.

There is so much more to see and do on the water here a cruise, whale watching or just sight seeing trip is a must in February. To get more info on how to book the right  boat for your needs here in Punta Mita, Nuevo Vallarta or Puerto Vallarta fishing call me toll free at 800 4306048 or e mail and I’ll get back with the info I have from my 30 years plus fishing these beautiful waters.  Hope to see you out there with you camera or fishing rod doubled over.  Hey how about both

    July 14, 2017

Tuna fishing remains hot on longer trips!!!

The summer fishing is just around the corner. The water temp is holding around 85 deg and blue water in most places. If you can’t get to the blue water that is holding bait the chances are not good for big game fishing here in Puerto Vallarta. Some days the run has been short but others plan on around 1 hrs. I’ve been using terrafin and plotting courses before we leave the dock. This cuts down on the time we need to find where the fish are feeding. This information along with what we did the day before is the best knowledge you can have when going after big game.

Right now there are marlin, tuna, sailfish and dorados here in Puerto vallarta fishing. Last week the tuna were at the banco ( 50 miles offshore ) and you need to plan on a 12 hr trip to catch these. The marlin were hanging around the Corbetena which is a 10 hr trip but can turn into a 12 hr trip depending on the action. Some folks just don’t want to leave when they see all the action the fishing spot has to offer. The large bonitas ( 5 to 10 lbs ) we use for the big tuna and marlin work really well for pargos around the rocks at Corbetena and Banco. A simple slow drift with whole or bonita work best. If we have live bonitas we will put them down first.

The sailfish have been in and outside the bay the last few days. These trips can be done in 8 hrs. Best bet is to work the chlorophyll break line where we know the blue water meets the slightly off color water, works great for catching the dorados ( mahi-mahi dolphin ) as well .

The inshore fishing has been a mixed bag. Some days finding mahi mahi and sails in the bay and just outside. The bonitas have been all over the bay. The jack cerville are schooling in and just outside the bay. These trips can be done in 4 to 6 hrs.

Come on down and wet a line with us.

Fishing Puerto Vallarta                                                                                American Owned and Operated

    Spring  report

The spring fishing here in Puerto Vallarta is one of the best times to fish in Puerto Vallarta if not the best.

For short trips there are yellowtails, bonita, snapper, Spanish mackerel and many other game fish in the bay.  These trips are perfect for those who don’t want to spend all day on the water.  The length of these trips would be 4 to 6 hrs.

For folks that want to fish for sailfish and mahi mahi the fishing is great just offshore. As the water starts to  warm the sardines come so the  mahi mahi -sailfish come as well.   The best bet is to fish one of the current lines ( trash lines )  early in the morning for dorados and then in the afternoon go for the sailfish.  April  is the very best month for sailfish here in Puerto Vallarta fishing.

For fishermen that want to go for the big tuna and marlin the action is always hot this time of the year offshore.  There are three main fishing spots we fish during this time of the year.  The corbetena is one of the best and can be done in 10 hrs if you on the right boat.  That means be sure you have a good sportfisher that can at least cruise at 15 knots and if not rent a good boat.  The next place that holds big tuna and marlin is El Banco which is 50 miles offshore and most of the really big fish come from this spot.  It’s an underwater knoll that rises from 800 feet of water to just 50 feet and holds bait there almost year round.  All the fish big game hunters are looking to catch are here.  If you fish El banco 10 times 9 times you will come home with the fish  of a lifetime.

    marlin fishing

The ultimate fishing grounds is known as Las Marias.  Here is one of the top 10 places to fish  in the world.  The islands are 80 miles offshore and we do 2.5 day trips out to the islands for the trip you will never forget.  I been there numerous times and have never had a bad trip there.  They hold tuna, sailfish, marlin, dorados, snapper and all the above in great numbers.  These islands are restricted as where we can fish, as Mexico had a penal system there that holds about 3000 inmates.  There are four islands and the fishing here is great year round.

    Puerto Vallarta Fishing
Puerto Vallarta Fishing & Charter Tours by Capt. Peter Vines

The only company in Puerto Vallarta that offers a money back guarantee!
Puerto Vallarta fishing charters since 1986

This week in Puerto Vallarta fishing we are going to look into the most important issues on chartering a fishing boat here in Puerto Vallarta or for that matter any where in the world.
1 ) Safety. is first in anything you do here in Puerto Vallarta or else where.
We have been doing charters here for almost 30 years 0 accidents.
2 ) The crew. You can have a great crew and this makes for a fantastic day.
if you wind up with the wrong crew it can be a long day. Make sure the crew
knows your requests and what you expect them to do for you.
3 ) The boat. This is one of the most important factors. if you want to go
offshore and rent a boat that can’t make it you are in for a long boat ride.
Talk to the Capt. or owner before you trip. This can be hard as most of the
companies have someone else doing the emails or answering the phone.
I do all the calls and e mails personally. Plan your trip to ensure a great day.
4 ) Communication . It does not matter if you have a fast boat and super
crew if you can’t commutate with them. The day want be any fun.
Make sure you, your guests/family are on the same page and can converse
with the crew. This will guarantee you understand what to do and not do. Plus see all the sights coming and
going to the fishing grounds and returning such as sea life, special points of interests, landmarks.
5 ) Where to fish and length of trip. If you want a marlin, mahi mahi or sailfish you will need to plan the length
of your trip accordingly. Some days the fish are here in the bay other days they are offshore. Make sure
you have plenty of time to get to fishing grounds to ensure you can hook up the fish of your dreams.
I personally use a satellite service that I pay for annually each year that tells me where the blue water is,chlorophyll breaks,
    water temp., altimetry,currents and winds.
Hope this information helps you chose the right boat for your family and friends while on Vacation here in beautiful
